The 7th Large Asian River International Symposium
August 11-17 2024, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
2th Symposium

2nd International Symposium on Larger Asian Rivers:

Climate Change, River Flow and Watershed Management

Asian river basins to climate change and uneven spatial and temporal distribution of water resources (such as water, sand, etc.) is the hot issue of concern. Recent research results show that: the increased significantly temperature of some Asian river basins has exacerbated the water circulation strength in these areas, and to increase the water-related natural disasters. At the same time, reservoirs, inter-basin transfersetc adjust  water resources'  space-time. The second international Symposium on Larger Asian Rivers invited international experts, scholars, engineers and government decision-makers of related fields for academic exchanges. The represents visited the biggest freshwater lake of China --- Poyang Lake and the biggest dam in the world ---Three Gorges Dam after symposium.

Themes of this symposium include, but not limited to 1) Current and future climate change on Asian river basins, 2)Affect of climate change on runoff and sediment of the river, 3) Climate change and activity and its effects on rivers, estuaries and coastal processes affecting, 4) Poyang Lake Research Topics.

This symposium was jointly organized by Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnlogy Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), the National University of Singapore. And Institute of Geography and Limnology, CAS and Sino-German research team hosted the symposium together.

The Symposium was held on  25th -29th September, 2007 in Nanchang, China.
